On September 22nd, Academician Zhibiao Nan organized a seminar on the preparation of the special task proposal for the “14th Five-Year” National Key R&D program in Biye Building. The participants in the conference are influential scholars in all branches of grassland science in China, including professors Yingjun Zhang of China Agricultural University, Guodong Han of Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, Zhenfei Guo of Nanjing Agricultural University, Xiangyang Hou of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Tianming Hu of Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University, Xinquan Zhang of Sichuan Agricultural University, Jinsheng He, Yanrong Wang, Fujiang Hou, Yuying Shen and Chunjie Li of Lanzhou University and so on.

Academician Zhibiao Nan briefed everyone on the efforts made for the establishment of the grassland special project since the end of the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period. The purpose of this meeting is to carefully revise and improve the proposal on the basis of the past and submit it to the Ministry Science and Technology to lay the foundation for the 14th Five-Year Plan.

Professor Fujiang Hou gave a brief report on the contents of the special task proposal for “Grassland Agriculture Innovation and National Food Safety”.

The participating experts conducted serious discussions on the overall, forward-looking and strategic needs of the country, and they agreed that the special task’s name was “Grassland Agriculture Innovation and National Food Safety”. They put forward suggestions for improvement and enriched the contents of the proposal in group. The revised draft of brainstorming will be reported to the Ministry of Science ans Technology as soon as possible.
