On 26-28 September, Academician Nan Zhibiao and Associate Researcher Xia Chao attended a seminar on “Science and Technology Academy for Poverty Alleviation and Green Agricultural Development Strategy” in Nanning, Guangxi Province. The seminar was hosted by China Rural Special Technology Association and Institute of Green Agricultural Development of China Agricultural University.

On the afternoon of 27th, Academician Nan and participating experts visited the science and technology academy of Jinsui Group in Long’an County. Accompanied by Chairman Lu Yizhen and President Lin Zihai of the company, they visited the dragon fruit, banana production base and Jinsui Ecological Park of the company, and listened to the students’ introduction to the production, life and study at the science and technology academy.

On the morning of 28th, Academician Nan attended the seminar. At the seminar, Academician Zhang Fusuo, Technical Director Li Baoshen of Jinsui Group, Professor Gao Qiang of Jilin Agricultural University and Professor Wang Xiyao of Sichuan Agricultural University on the general information of science and technology academies and individual academies in Jinsui, Guangxi, Tongyu, Jilin and Butuo, Sichuan respectively. Afterwards, the experts at the seminar commented on the work progress of the academies and put forward suggestions on future development directions. Academician Nan In his speech fully affirmed the achievements made by the science and technology academies in discipline construction, talent training and social service, and suggested that the academies focus on farmers’ production issues, pay attention to the intersection and integration of multiple disciplines, strengthen scientific and technological innovation, and further promote the extensive application of basic research results in agricultural production practice.

The other panel members were Yu Xinrong, former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Minister of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, President of China Green Agricultural Development Research Association, Song Jianchao, former Member of the Party Committee and Chairman of China Society of Agricultural and Rural Legal System, He Bingsheng, President of China Rural Special Technology Association, Academician Zhu Zuoyan, Academician Li Tianlai, Academician Song Baoan, Professor Shen Qirong, etc. More than 60 attendees were at the seminar, including representatives of science and technology associations of provinces and districts such as Guangxi, Guangdong, Sichuan, Guizhou and Inner Mongolia, etc., representatives of agriculture-related universities such as China Agricultural University, Sichuan Agricultural University, Jilin Agricultural University, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University and students of the science and technology academies.
